Safe learning environment
Our top priority is to create a safe, caring and supportive learning environment. Upon employment all staff need to provide a Police Clearance Certificate regarding working in education and the Dutch equivalent, which is called VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag). The final stage of our recruitment process, also includes a reference check.
ISU staff are regularly trained to identify and respond to signs of abuse or neglect among our students, ensuring appropriate action is taken. Safeguarding the welfare of our students is our top priority at all times. We take all allegations and indications of abuse or neglect very seriously, and will follow up accordingly. The measures we take may include contacting local and/or international law enforcement and engaging with organisations responsible for child protection in the Netherlands.
Trainees in school
We support and welcome trainees in our school. ISU collaborates with (mostly local) partners. There is an intensive guidance procedure in place for trainees at ISU. During the traineeship, ISU stays in close contact with the educational institution where the trainee is following their education. The traineeship at ISU takes place under close supervision. All trainees at ISU need to provide a valid VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag) or Police Clearance Certificate before entering their traineeship.
