One of our main focuses so far, has been tackling waste within the school. We’ve sorted out the items in the lost and found and have frequently set up stalls to encourage parents and students to look for their lost items. When these are not being picked up, we make sure that they are given to second hand stores so that they don’t go to waste.
Swap shop
Before the Christmas break, we also plan to set up our very first swap shop and we hope there will be many more to come. :) In the swap shop, students will be able to buy and exchange clothing that they haven’t worn. Once again, the left over clothing will be donated to second hand stores.
Recycling
So far, we’ve also taken a few steps to promote recycling by setting up paper and plastic recycling bins in all the classrooms throughout the school. These help improve waste management in the school and help raise awareness about recycling among students and staff.
Ecoscan
During January, we’re planning an Ecoscan to take a more careful look school’s sustainability efforts. This will help us identify areas for further growth towards sustainability and will help us develop more ideas.
