School board members Jeroen Kreijkamp (NUOVO) and Anko van Hoepen (SPO Utrecht) and alderman Eva Oosters told the gathered students, staff and parents how proud they are on having such a flourishing international school in their city. Head of School, Marieke Folkers stated that ISU currently teaching around 1100 international students deserve their own school. Having the students aged 4-18 under one roof again, is a big step forward for ISU.
Giant bow
A group of students helped Marieke Folkers to officially open the school by untying a giant bow. Then finally, the families could explore the new school building. They were helped by a group of older students who volunteered to be posted in the new school with clear maps, helping families finding their way. After exploring every nook and cranny of the new campus, it was time to come outside again for a drink and a typical Duch stroopwafel.
ISU will be housed at the Van Deventerlaan 1 in Utrecht Papendorp until the permanent campus at Utrecht Science Park is ready. This will probably be in 2026.
